RIVERSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL- ALEXANDRIA, VA

This project definitely grew arms and legs. We went in with the intent to only update the Trauma Counseling room. Just the idea that little kids need that makes us our hearts break. We wanted it to be light and colorful, have comfy seating and just be a place to feel special and safe. When we went on the building tour, they walked us through the teachers' lounge, the saddest hallway EVER (completely blank) and an empty classroom that would host the new Autism class. We knew we needed to do more. We updated the teacher's lounge to make it feel fresh and fun; we had a mural painted in the blah boring hallway by a local high school senior (and added fun painted mirrors to both Girls and Boys bathrooms and got tons of donations for the Autism classroom- including 2 specialty tables! We were so happy to give back to our community- especially the ones who show up EVERY DAY. Thank you, teachers, and support staff!
